Re: Flight Reminder

This is a reminder email about your forthcoming flight about 14 days from now. This reminder email is for your information only. No action is needed from you.

Number of pax: 2
Insurance Policy: None
Flight Itinerary:

  • SIN-HKG 3K 691 04 Nov 2008 0640 1025
    • SITI NURULJANNAH BAHARUDIN – 14A
    • SARINAH KADIR – 14B

    • SITI NURULJANNAH BAHARUDIN – 14F
    • SARINAH KADIR – 14E

Only two weeks to go? But wait, I have NOT:

  1. planned an itinerary
  2. thought of what to bring, how much currency (HKD) to buy
  3. bought travel insurance
  4. booked a hotel room

Not to mention finish my last assignment of the semester (due in one week) AND study for exams! Looks like I won’t be sleeping much on the eve of the trip. Tsk tsk.

Just four weeks to go to the end of the semester. Then a two-week break followed by my one & only exam. After that, it’s off to Hong Kong I go, and I can’t wait. I wouldn’t even mind if it were elsewhere & not HK we’re going. I just need an escape, to give me the change of environment I need.

Operations Management is not as tough as I imagined. It’s rather scientific & mathematical in nature, which suits me just fine, because I am a sciences type of girl at heart (or brain). The group assignment looks manageable too, thank God. Now all I need are group members I can work with. I already got slotted into a group earlier today, except that I haven’t met any of the members as it was all settled over email & SMS. The wonders of modern faceless communication. Haha.

Am looking through the just-released IT Project Management end-of-course assessment. It actually looks pretty straightforward. Just clear-cut questions, purely online submission, and the best thing is, no powerpoint slides or video presentation involved. Yesss! :D

The next four weeks are looking more & more survivable.

Finally, Contract & Agency Law is OVER! Submitted the end-of-course assessment earlier today – via courier as usual, being the lazy arse I am about travelling to school. The second term has rolled around before I know it, and being too caught up in mid-semester deadlines, I haven’t done ANY readings for the upcoming modules. Sigh.

Operations Management is a level 3 module, and it doesn’t look light, if you get what I mean. I printed out the lecture notes today, and the first set has 117 slides. Yes, one hundred & freakin’ seventeen. How the hell to cover that in a 3-hour seminar? I also received two new books for the second part of IT Project Management. The cool thing is, one of them is actually the PMBOK® Guide! This book is like, the bible of the project management world, used by project managers worldwide. This module is really worth the price I paid for it. Not only are the resources provided excellent, I’m learning things I can apply to my job right away.

Speaking of which, I’m not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow after the long break. Never mind that it wasn’t really a break; just a break from work so I could concentrate on school. But still, it helped to change gears for awhile. I’m almost afraid to check my work email after ignoring it for 5 days, so let’s leave that till tomorrow, shall we? Sigh. I wonder how many hundred emails will be waiting for me to sift through. At least it’s only 2 days to the weekend.

Back to readings now. Yeah, I’m severely lacking a life.

  • Am totally craaaaaving the cheese baked rice at Eighteen Chefs right now. Gosh, the TORTURE of PMS-induced food cravings!
  • It’s been ages since I bought a damn good movie on DVD because it’s been ages since a damn good movie came out of Korea.
  • Business law started out surprisingly interesting despite its dry nature. I think it has everything to do with my captivating seminar leader. He actually explains law terms in English! :P
  • Wanted: a high-quality, roomy black tote bag to last me for years. Maybe I should just try to live without one until my Hong Kong shopping trip in November.
  • Firefox 3 on Mac looks uncannily like Safari. O.o
  • I now have a pet dog. :D He’s a basset hound and almost as big as me! Any name suggestions?

Got my schedule for the upcoming semester drawn up. It looks…manageable, I think. Compared to last semester’s. Unless work gets very hectic for some reason, I should have less difficulty this semester. They assigned me to a virtual tutorial group for IT Project Management, which means only one commute to school per week on most weeks. I’m rather excited about this course, partly because it’s e-learning, and mostly because it’s very relevant to my career right now, not to mention in the future.

Am also reading Singapore business law this semester, and the textbook appears daunting. I actually screamed when I first opened it. No kidding. I reckon about 90% of the book is made up of the laws, obviously in very law-ly English. Now why did I choose this module again? Oh right, because there’s no exam. Heh.

Between my bookends

Don’t ask why my 연애시대 (Alone in Love) DVD and Japanese / Korean albums are there. :P (I’m just too lazy to put them back after I’m done with them.) My new school textbooks are arriving by courier tonight, so I’ll have to reorganise & make space on my desk. X_x

The IT Project Management course I’m taking up next semester is actually conducted by International Institute for Learning, in partnership with the university. What’s interesting is, I can opt to be in virtual tutorial group where the training is in the form of live, interactive online sessions. Which means I’d have one less commute to campus every week, saving me some time & energy.

I found out I could reserve an iPhone 3G through SingTel, so I went ahead & did it. Most likely, I will forgo the iPod Touch & opt for the all-in-one iPhone instead. But SingTel will give me a week to decide if I still want the iPhone once it reaches our shores, so we’ll see then. No more shopping for me in the next few months. No more IKEA especially. Everytime I step into that store, there’s always something I want to buy.

Last bit of randomness: YB’s convocation ceremony is in a week, and I’m already excited to attend it. :D
